Students: Preparing for Industry-Led Projects

Industry-led projects are authentic learning experiences that connect students with real-world challenges from actual workplaces. Unlike typical school assignments, these projects focus on problems that industry professionals face every day, allowing students to research, brainstorm solutions, and test new ideas in a career-relevant context.

Students and teachers can request mentorship support throughout the project process, mirroring real workplace dynamics. These projects are designed to help students develop practical skills that employers value while exploring potential career paths.

How to Get Started

Let's get started!

  1. Log into your Pathful Account.

  2. Navigate to Assignments.

  3. Select View All.

  4. You should see the project assigned to you by your teacher.

  5. Click Start when you're ready to begin.

Important: You'll notice that there are multiple steps and activities to complete for the project. Take your time, take notes, and seek advice when needed throughout the process.

Tips for Success

For a successful project, here are some tips to consider:

  1. Take your time with each activity. You want to truly understand the challenge and be able to develop creative solutions.

  2. If you're scheduled to meet with a mentor, prepare questions ahead of time. This will help you make the most of your time with industry professionals.

  3. Reach out to your teacher if you need support or better understanding of what's expected of you.

  4. Get excited! You're about to gain valuable skills and be prepared for a career you want!

Working with Classmates

If you are completing the project as a group:

  • Assign roles and tasks to give every member of the group a chance to contribute to the outcome of the project.

  • Use collaborative tools such as Google Docs to keep notes and track progress.

  • Research examples from other companies to get inspired, but still get creative with your own solutions.

  • Decide what will make your idea stand out from others and lead with this in your final presentation.

Working with Mentors

When you have the opportunity to connect with industry mentors:

  • Come prepared with specific questions about the project

  • Ask about examples of what you're learning and their experience in the field

  • Be ready to share your progress and challenges

  • Take notes during your conversations
